Barb- I have had many taxpayers in Siuth Burlington
say they couldn't pay, but somehow they do come up
with the payment when sale time comes. (g)
Seriously, if a taxpayer tries to make some payment
we accept that and hold off on the sale. I would never
abate the taxes for inability to pay--they are a lien
on the property and eventually a new buyer will have to
pay them off. If you write them off, you will never
collect.
ACt 60 presents a new problem--if you dont collect the
payment from a taxpayer for the state share, you will
be forced to borrow the money to pay the state. In
essence, everyone in town is now paying for the delinquent
taxpayers share.
