Thank you for your contribution. Re CPT codes, obviously there is no
exact code for this procedure at this time (maybe in the future). I
use 76936 and 36140. 76936 is under the heading "Ultrasound Guidance
Procedures" and is for US guided compression repair of PSA or AVF
(includes diagnostic US, compression of lesion and imaging). This code
does not distinguish between 5 min compression and 2 hr. Thrombin
injection has all of the components with minimal compression. I think
this is more accurate than 76942 (US guidance for needle biopsy),
76946 (US guidance for amniocentesis) etc.
36140 is under "Vascular Injection Procedures" and is "introduction of
needle, extremity artery."
I have no idea if our carriers are paying for these codes.

For Steve Kang: At The University of Penna @ Presbyterian Medical
Center Vascular Lab we have sucessfully performed 5 Thrombin injection
for pseudo repair procedures in the past 3 months. (For anyone who can
help): We have no problem with procedure, but we are having a trouble
coming up with the appropriate CPT code. We have been using 76936 for
Ultrasound guided compression repair of pseudos when we did
compressions, but we are presently using 93926 when using the
thrombin. Has anyone out there found a magical code? Pat @ Presby
