Education Manager - Public Services & Education

The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) seeks an experienced,
talented and technologically sophisticated individual to plan, manage and
evaluate educational programs, instructional development
and staff training; and coordinate the design, development and delivery of
formal/informal instruction related to accessing, filtering and managing
biomedical information.

MUSC's core purpose is to preserve and optimize human life. The
university's strategic plan emphasizes the need to instill core
competencies and values, foster lifelong learning, improve public access to
health
information and expand community involvement.

Located in beautiful, historic Charleston, the MUSC Library is comprised of
several major functional areas including Public Services & Education,
Systems, Informatics Lab, Resource Management Services,
Biomolecular Computing Resource, and the Educational Technology Lab.

The recent reorganization of circulation, reference, education, the
Learning Resource Center, outreach, special projects and consumer health
functions into a Public Services & Education division has given
public service faculty and staff the opportunity to refocus community
outreach and public education activities, streamline service functions, and
collaborate with clinical and research faculty.

Successful candidates for the Projects Manager position will possess
effective verbal, communication, teaching, platform and computing skills, a
strong commitment to service, and a record of professional
achievement.

A master's degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA accredited
institution is required; coursework in the life sciences and/or education
preferred.

Position requires five or more years' post-MLS experience working in an
academic research setting; experience developing, managing and evaluating
innovative and progressive projects; successful experience
supervising and coordinating the work of library faculty and staff;
demonstrated interest in professional activities, including participation
in local, state and national professional organizations. Faculty
appointment will be made at the assistant or associate professor level

Salary: from $40,000, commensurate with qualifications, experience, and
faculty rank. TIAA/CREF, broad insurance benefits, 22 vacation days, 11
paid holidays and 12 sick leave days per year.
