I think it's just generalized frustration on their parts, Paul. I saw the
comments re the search interfaces & found myself thinking that it
makes things better for the end-user, & isn't that what we've all been
saying we wanted over the years?? :) I'll miss heck out of ELHILL
when it goes down -- it's the magician thing of being able to make it
do backflips that I love, & PUBMED does have its problems. I'm sure
they'll be sorted out soon, though, & though I'll miss the librarian/
searcher-oriented capabilities if it improves things for my customers
I for one am all for it!
As for the Java/QD/etc., stuff, I just worry a little that maybe the techies
out on the bleeding edge may sometimes lose track of the fact that
"push"ing the newest tech as an official requirement creates problems
for those lagging somewhat behind. If something says it "requires"
NS 4.x or IE 5.x or better, rather than saying "optimized for," I figure
that's
what it means. :)
