Hello MEDLIBers,

I am having a tough time tracking down this item. The only library in my
area that *used* to have the tape discarded it because of deterioration!

Hildegard Peplau, pioneer in psychiatric nursing, did a series of audio
tapes on various aspects of psychiatric nursing. The one I am looking for
was entitled "Illness Maintaining Systems" and was done in, I think, 1974.
They were all recorded by PSF Publications of San Antonio, Texas (I have
not been able to locate this company and suspect they may have long since
gone out of business).

The topic of the tape was that, very often, hospitals (specifically
psychiatric I guess) do more to promote and prolong illness than they do to
cure it. As far as I can tell, she never WROTE anything on this topic nor
are there transcripts of any of her recorded talks.

If anyone knows of anything Peplau wrote on this topic, or has or knows of
copies of the tape, I would greatly appreciate hearing from them. I'm not
sure what to do about acquiring the tape or the information on the tape, but
we could figure that out in the event somebody has the thing!

Thanks for your help.
Brad Dishan
