Vershire is a small town and I cannot imagine life as a town clerk without
an assistant. What would happen in Ludlow if for some unforeseen incident
that you were unable to go to work for sometime? (We do not have a town
manager.) The assistant clerk here handles all the recording of documents,
vital records, UCC's, and helps with other projects. She works 4 to 5
hours per week on an average, 95% of which is to record documents and
process the needed paperwork. In 1998, we recorded 604 pages of documents;
vital records are very few...less than 20. She is appointed by the town
clerk and earns $8 per hour. (I think she deserves more.) Good luck adn I
hope this helps. Naomi, C/T
