We also do inpatient studies as portables. I think that usually it's a good
deal easier to roll the scanner to the room and find a
reasonably-comfortable way to do the study there than to transport the
patient to the lab. Of course, if you have the luxury of a transport
department, as the Radiology department does, then lucky you. We also try to
trade off between the (usually) two techs so that one of us isn't doing all
the heavy lifting.
