Our oncall at our hospital got totally abusive and I finally put my foot
down. I had a meeting with the head of radiology and VP of operations, and
interventional radiologist, and they are willing to use the Univ. Of NC
algorithm for venous studies. I applied it to one weekend's worth of oncall
and it correlated perfectly! the only 3 cases that matched the algorithm
proved to be the positves for DVT.
Their questions are 1) how are pts. that are HMO's handled from ER. If they
are to return the next a.m. for a study. Does the primary doctor then have to
send pt. w/ authorization for study for next day?  How are other institutions
getting around this issue.
2) what results are other institutions having utilizing a similar protocol?
I need this info stat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  My radiologist is taking this to QI
