I scan carotids the way I learned them, which is beside the patient like
traditional abdominal imaging. I would have to agree that there is no right
or wrong way, as long as the sonographer is comfortable. At the patients head
actually looks as if it may be more comfortable, however, we don't have time
to rearrange the room after every carotid exam. Echoes are bad enough, since
I am right handed, I scan them upside down.....lol.
