Dear AdvoCats,
Can you help with a new IT life cycle planning effort, one that could
result in appropriate budgeting for replacement of lab and classroom
computers? (The main question in this phase: if UVM were to replace
computers on an appropriate time line, e.g., every three years for
computer labs and classrooms, what would it cost us?) This is part
of a larger analysis aimed at determining what UVM is (and should be)
spending, annually, for IT.
Consulting numerous sources, I've come up with a partial list of lab
and classroom facilities -- could you review it for completeness and
rough accuracy? It's at:
http://www.uvm.edu/~djw/drafts/classrooms-labs19991116.html
Thank you for any information you can provide! This information will
also be useful in responding to surveys like Yahoo Internet Life,
which ranked UVM last year as #45 in use of technology.

P.S. No facility-specific detail will appear in the planning
worksheets, just totals, so accuracy doesn't have to be 100%; at the
same time, this list will prevent double-counting and will provide
supporting detail if anyone asks what's included.
