Micromass... the mass spectrometry people, are seeking to recruit a
development and application specialist to work in the field of Stable
Isotope Ratio Mass Spectrometry to join a multi-disciplinary team in
Altrincham, UK. The rural location offers an excellent quality of life with
easy access to the Cheshire countryside, Manchester city centre and three
national parks each within two hours drive.

THE COMPANY
Micromass is the leader in the development, manufacture, sale and support of
organic, inorganic, stable isotope and ICP mass spectrometers typically
coupled with HPLC, CE, CEC, GC or EA systems. Our products supply a diverse
market with a strong emphasis on Biotechnology, Pharmaceuticals, Clinical,
Analytical, Environmental, Food analysis and Geological market sectors
worldwide.

THE ROLE
We are entering an exciting growth period, backed by an extensive new
product development program. As part of this expansion program Micromass UK
Ltd are intending to recruit demo and application personnel with a view to
rapidly enlarging their present stable isotope MS group. This challenging
position will include instrument demonstrations in the factory, in other
Micromass laboratories or on some occasions on a customer site as part of
the instrument sales process. It will also involve providing a technical
resource for analysing customer samples. Carrying out factory based and on
site customer training courses. Contributing to the development of new
training programs by writing course material and producing manuals and
presentations. Provide applications support to customers. Ensuring
compliance with the Micromass Quality System and develop and improve working
practices/processes within the Applications Laboratory.
The position will offer opportunities of overseas travel including
international conferences and customer contact.

QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate would have A degree in Chemistry or similar and in
addition a higher degree or several years relevant experience gained in an
analytical or pharmaceutical laboratory.
Experience in separation science e.g. GC or LC or CE and experience in
technical development of both classical dual inlet and continuous flow
stable Isotope ratio MS is desirable.
Candidates are expected to have excellent written and verbal communication
skills and should be experienced with PC systems.
The position is available now and will be based at Micromass' development,
production and applications facility in Manchester UK.
