1. It is very fast.

The only user support requests I have had to field after our initial ½-hour training sessions at the beginning of the school year have been for people who need to recover a lost password and people who missed a set of instructions on upgrading their "front-end" software. It's a very user-friendly system.

We do have a "Reservation Database" system, written in Access, as Steve Barner mentioned. Key features:
* Users can schedule one to three "resources" simultaneously on one screen (but there is no limit to how many resources they can schedule). E.g., if one needs a lab, a projection system, and a video camera for a project, one can easily see dates and times when all three are available.
* To schedule a resource for a specific time period, the user simply double-clicks the appropriate field on the screen. (Double-click again to unschedule.)
* Scheduling is real-time and instantaneous--there is no waiting for someone else to approve the reservation.
* Schedules can be configured to match school periods exactly (e.g., 9:03 - 9:48).
* Users can schedule a resource for an extended period of time. E.g., if a class meets first semester in a lab, a user can easily schedule the lab for the entire semester.
* Each user has a "front end" database in their personal storage space on the file server; the actual data is stored centrally in a "back end" database.
* Resource use reports can easily be generated (though we haven't built all the reports one might want, yet).
* Each teacher has his/her own account and can change his/her own password.
* All our computers have Access, so other than a minimal amount of maintenance, there is 0 cost.
I'm checking with the District administration to see if/how we might make this available to others.

I'm looking for a piece of software that all teachers could have on their
desk to use for scheduling time in one of our labs. It would also be great
if they could use the same piece of software to reserve video cams, etc. I
thought I had found a product, but, alas, I was going to get exactly what a
I paid for--very little usefulness--so I sent it back. Any suggestions?
