Rivendell Interstate School District Announces TechWorks – Teaching Technology Integration Workshop August 1-4, 2005 (4 days) Rivendell Academy, Orford, NH (please note that Dates have changed!) Here's an opportunity to make a significant, long lasting impact on technology integration in your school. It's a four-day workshop PLUS 2 additional refresher/troubleshooting days PLUS the creation of a collegial tech integration network for ongoing peer support TechWorks is a course for teachers and district leaders who want to learn about or further their understanding how technology can be used as a tool to support student and teacher inquiry, problem solving, higher order thinking skills and to extend creative thinking processes. The unique Techworks "train the trainer" approach will teach you how to conduct workshops and share your learning with other teachers in your school or district. The course will be led by experts in the field of educational technology – Jill Weber of EDC, and Peter Drescher of Vermont Institutes. Both trainers have extensive experience in the implementation issues facing teachers, schools, and districts using technology. TechWorks will run for 4 full days in the summer with two follow-up day(s) one each in the fall and spring. Lunch will be provided during the summer institute. What you will learn (course goals): Ø Design, develop and implement materials/units and approaches for professional development and classroom use Ø Learn assessment strategies to evaluate your technology-infused curriculum unit Ø Experience and reflect upon good models of teaching with technology Ø Conduct a technology integration workshop Ø Participate in an active learning community with professionals doing similar work What you will do: Ø Participate in the Summer Institute, 4 consecutive days August 1-4, 2005 Ø Participate in 2 follow-up/refresher dates one each in the fall and in the spring. And you and your school will get: Ø Your own in-house tech integration support and workshops for Year One Ø Long term sustainability of your efforts through shared skills and knowledge with your colleagues Ø Ongoing connection with tech integration teachers through collegial network Who should attend: Ø School-based staff, including administrators, technology integration specialists, technology coordinators, library media specialists, teacher leaders (e.g., teachers serving on a curriculum or technology committee, or willing to share technology with other teachers) Ø We encourage school and district teams of leaders and teachers to attend Expenses: Ø Registration cost is $350/person before June 1, 2005. Registration cost after June1, 2005 is $400.00. Ø This fee includes all course materials, continental breakfast and lunch on the days of the summer institute. Ø The cost of lodging and transportation is the responsibility of the participants and their districts. Credits: Ø Three graduate credits are available upon conclusion of the TechWorks program in the spring 2006. The cost of the graduate credit will be as low as $85.00 per credit and is in addition to the registration fee.
