Apologies for cross-postings
Dear All,
I would like to draw your attention to the 16th Annual VM Goldschmidt Conference, Melbourne, Australia, 27 August - 1 September 2006
Paul Tomascak, Eizo Nakamura and I are organizing Session 7-5 "Light elements in the continental crust", as part of the overall Theme 7: "Geochemical constraints on timescales and mechanisms of tectonic processes".
The light elements (Li-Be-B-N) and their isotopic variations (Li-B- N) are potentially sensitive monitors of continental weathering, metamorphism, magmatism, and hydrothermal alteration. However, in detail relatively little is known about the elemental and isotopic fractionation of these elements during low- and high-temperature crustal processes. This symposium will showcase field-based and experimental studies, and advances in analytical techniques that will allow light element geochemistry to be used to identify sources, sinks and transport processes at both deep and shallow crustal levels.
Keynote Speakers:
Gray Bebout, Lehigh University, USA
Gideon Henderson, Oxford University, UK
Richard Hervig, Arizona State University, USA
Deadlines:
13 April 2006 - Deadline for receipt of abstracts
30 June 2006 - Speaker registration deadline
30 June 2006 - Early registration cut off date
Looking forward to seeing you in Melbourne.
Regards,
Ian
