Dear Benjamin (and others likewise afflicted),

Your problem is caused by a bug in Isodat that several new Service Packs have as yet failed to fix. As to why Isodat 'looses' or overwrites the entry in the magnet calibration not even the IT professionals in Bremen seem to know although it has certainly something to do with the fact that 4 certain configuration files (*.iso) are opened everyday you use the system.

Since I suspect this is the first time this happened to you, you will have to start from scratch as if the instrument had just been installed. Close down Isodat and reboot your PC. From the IsodatNT folder (shortcut on the desktop) open the Configurator and configure gases and cup settings according to your needs and instrument. Close the software and for luck reboot the PC.

From the the IsodatNT folder open the Instrument Control software and carry out a magnet calibration with CO2. Once this is finished and you saved the calibration you should be back in business.

To save you having to do all that the next time this happens, open Windows Explorer, select the drive on which IsodatNT is installed and create a subdirectory database_backup or config_files_backup (or whatever takes your fancy). Now go into the subdirectory Finnigan\IsodatNT\Global\databases. Apart from some more subdirectories you will find a raft of files all ending in *.iso. Select IsodatGasConfiguration.iso, IsodatSystem.iso and IsodatScanMacro.iso and copy them into the backup directory you just created.

The next time you end with '???' where a BDAC value should be, go into the database directory (having closed down IsodatNT first), delete the current versions of these 3 files (which should show the current date) and copy the saved "old" versions from the backup directory into \databases.

Best wishes,

Wolfram

P.S.: The 4th *.iso file that gets perpetually 'updated' is called IsodatConfiguration.iso but as far as I can tell has nothing to do with this problem.

I recently performed a mass calibration on a Delta+ using my CO2
monitoring gas. When the calibration was complete my gas configuration
for CO2 would not properly set the magnet to the right spot, nor did it
even seem to try. I looked at the settings for the gas configuration
and it appears to have used the new calibration; however, in the
column 'magnet' only a '?' appeared in the cell for the CO2
configuration.

I tried to manually replace the '?' with the BDAC value for magnet
steps I got when I jumped to mass 45 and attempted to save the changes
in the gas configuration but it never replaced the '?'. Any ideas as to what
is causing this problem and how to fix it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
