Dear List,
Please inform interested parties of two open faculty positions at the
University of Puerto Rico, Mayaguez (see formal advertisements below).
Our official advertisements will appear in EOS in the next few weeks.
A few quick points I would like to emphasize-
(1) Both positions are regular faculty, full-time, tenure track
positions. One is for a research oriented faculty member, the other is
for a teaching oriented faculty member.
(2) This may be of particular interest to those seeking a spousal hire,
as the target starting date for both positions is August 2007.
(3) The research position is advertised as 'open field', meaning
that qualified persons from any discipline of geology can (and are
encouraged to) apply. However, I send this advert. to ISOGEOCHEM because
one of the existing strength areas that we wish complement is
geochemistry. In particular we encourage those who use applications of
stable isotopes to address problems in areas of low-temperature
geochemistry to apply. This includes (but is certainly not limited to)
applications in climate, diagenesis, paleothermometry, corals,
sedimentary records, hydrology, environment, etc. The Geology Department
houses a GV Isoprime magnetic sector CF IRMS, Eurovector EA (w/ LAS), a
micromill sampler, and other devices. Applicants in the area of low-T
geochemistry who have demonstrated research records/ operational
experience with the above IRMS are strongly encouraged to apply.
(4) The teaching position is open to all qualified applicants with a
demonstrated teaching record who hold a PhD in a geology-related
field.
