While studies suggest that the LGBTQIA+ community is underrepresented and marginalized in STEM fields overall, little data has been gathered to assess the concerns of this community within the Earth and Planetary Sciences.  

If you are an LGBTQIA+ student, academic, and/or professional in the earth or planetary sciences, please consider responding to the anonymous survey linked . This survey will take approximately 20 minutes to complete. No personally identifiable information will be collected. Survey participants must be 18 years or older.

We are three LGBTQIA+ graduate students advised by two ally professors within the School of Earth Sciences at The Ohio State University. We are conducting this survey to assess how visible LGBTQIA+ people feel, their experiences with harassment or discrimination, and their perception of department/workplace policies within the Earth and Planetary Sciences field. With this study, we hope to fill an important gap in knowledge about the climate for LGBTQIA+ people in our field, and offer suggestions for what policies or strategies could improve it.
