Good morning,

Late to the conversation. If you have check boxes next to authors, then it sounds like you have an author management plugin installed. It could either need to be updated or it is broken. You can disable the plugin temporarily and then go into the post and change the author via the dropdown menu. Also, just as others suggest, you can duplicate the post and publish it under the correct author, to begin with.

We've tried to remove the check for the incorrect person in the list of users associated with the story, but it seems like WordPress refused to allow this. (The check keeps reappearing after clicking the update button).
