Greetings!

In some ways, I can understand the sentiment behind this bill. Not that I
agree with or support those sentiments - but at least I can understand
them. Without getting into the weeds of the sheer impracticality of this
bill, it strikes me as roughly analogous to the Luddites (again, *roughly*
- if you're a student of history) or any modern group that espouses that,
well, gosh darn it, things used to be better way-back-when.

As Tim pointed out, I'm not sure how I can best prepare students for real
life and *actual reality* if you (i.e. the legislature) deem it best to
pretend that reality does not exist. I do not use social media in any of
my classes - but using paper and pencil to try talking about social media
seems like something out of a Mel Brooks movie (or a new spin off of Dr.
Strangelove). It denies the existence of the world that exists once
students leave the school building. If an ostrich sticks its head in the
sand when it sees a predator, the predator doesn't go away ....

Viewed as an absurdist movie plot, this legislation is great. Viewed as
actual legislation, it's ... misguided? Unfeasible? Choose your
adjective, but please insert some reality into it.
