I have both the Asus CX34 and the Acer 417.   The 417 is a much better device.   Almost every CX34 I bought has has some type of issue that I needed to send back for a warranty repair.  I faired a little better with the ASUS CX5' (which are closer to the 714 than the CX34), but I still had a hire rate of warrant issues than I should have.    I am not getting another ASUS again.

We are using Spin 714 for faculty, solid & efficient, worth the price.

Looking for any updated experiences on Chromebooks for use as teacher's primary desk/take-home computer. I'm looking to test them and use them as loaner computers to tempt some teachers away from PCs and Macs as theirs age out. So they need to be fast, slick, touchscreen, and maybe flip capability. Have folks found that teachers like flips?

These were recommended on the list in September.
  • Acer Spin714 with 12core i5 and 16GB RAM
  • Asus CX34 (Asus CX-5 Flip discontinued?)
  • HP Fortis 14-inch G10, touchscreen
  • HP X360 14-inch FHD Touchscreen
The motivation here is primarily to get teachers to use the same environment as students on fast, smooth, simple computers that discourage personal file storage. And to have less IT time updating, copying files to new computers, installing software, etc.
