I had a similar, not same, issue with some Chromebooks earlier this year that would not update if the OU was pinned at a certain version. I moved the devices to an OU set to update to the latest version then moved the devices back after updating (it might take several updates)...  Guessing on this, but if the OU OS is pinned to a set version, the device tries to update to THAT version but can not because it needs an incremental update. Once the device could grab the "latest" for that OS version as a step increase, it could then update to the most current...

Considering the last post is from March 2023, I hope that you are not still waiting.  (I have a bunch of the 714's still in the box so I am following the thread).    Long-shot, but have you tried updating it from home?  Wipe it and try again?  temporarily put it into an OU that is on the beta channel?

ya, we've done the forced update. They are not past their life. I think it's a mother board thing that should get fixed soon.

Hi Caleb,

We experienced an issue that sounds similar to what you're describing with several of our Chromebook models; I'm not sure if it is the same exact issue you are having.

Our "workaround" was to navigate to the bottom left of the Chromebook, click on the launcher, and type in "update."  This opened a new window where we could update to the newest Chrome OS.

Has anyone run into this? I've found out that my teacher Chromebooks (Acer Flip 714s) are on older ChromeOSes like 105 or 116 and not auto-updating, even after checking for updates or using the crosh command "autest”

I updated them by installing a new OS of a USB, but they still won't upgrade to the latest from 122. I've checked the OU and it's not a setting there.
