Thinking ahead to lessons requested by teachers next year, specifically on generative AI. How are y'all dealing with these conflicting realities? (1) Many students are using things like Chat GPT, and we want to educate them about how and when to use this technology safely (and how to craft a good AI prompt) but (2) according to Terms of Service, students really cannot "legally" use generative AIs, so we can't actually have them engaging with these AIs in class.
Poorly worded context (I blame the heat - and the fact I don't have A/C at home) but I hope you get my meaning and can provide insights. What are you doing to educate students about what is arguably the biggest thing out there right now - but which actually shouldn't be used by those same students?
A friend said this is a bit like trying to talk, but not talk, with students about the wide world of online porn, but that's a comparison I'm not going to tackle here ....
