Many of the Cloud-based phone systems, such as Zoom Phone, now have sms capability for each extension (physical or virtual) in the system.  Any user can send texts through a Zoom client on any platform, avoiding the disclosure of their personal contact information.  Further, all communications through the system are logged and accessible by Admins.

I believe that there might be some translation services too, or possibly it's a forthcoming feature.

My school uses a paid tool called Reach.
It has a built in texting service that is tracked in the tool. Multiplatform.
We also use it to check students in and out from the library, the gym, and other places where they might have access outside of academic hours between sports practices, like the weight room, the music rooms, library, computer lab...etc.

The chat service is pretty solid.

google chat should also do the trick I  think.

Hello-
My Superintendent is looking for a solution that would track Teacher-Student-Teacher communications, sometimes via text, on international trips and perhaps on sports trips.

The law is that we have to keep a record of all such communication. I believe we used to use WhatsApp for this purpose, but we can't use that any more.

Has anybody come up with a solution for this?

Tim
