Recognize a CS HERO from your school!

CSTA - Vermont invites you to recognize CS Heroes from around our state. Each day this week we will spotlight CS Heroes from around Vermont. Let’s build a gallery of CS Heroes from Vermont CTE centers, our school libraries, our high schools, and our elementary schools. Fill out this short form.

to recognize an educator, librarian, coach, ed tech specialist , administrator, or other staff who increases access to computer science for our Vermont students

Let’s celebrate our fellow educators who increase access to computer science in Vermont

Vermont librarians as CS Heroes

Today, during Computer Science Education Week, Vermont-CSTA recognizes a group of educators whose impact often goes unnoticed but is felt across every hallway and  classroom in our schools: our Vermont school librarians. These educators are true CS Heroes, expanding access to computer science through creativity, collaboration, and a deep commitment to student learning.

Across the state, librarians are leading Hour of Code events, teaching robotics, guiding students to think critically about artificial intelligence, and curating resources that help both teachers and students explore new CS ideas. Warren School, Moretown School, Fayston, Waitsfield School, Johnson  Hyde Park, and Cambridge School have written grants, built partnerships, and  co-designed residencies with Create Make Learn that bring hands-on computer science experiences directly into their schools.

This week, Vermont librarians are inspiring students in countless ways — from coding Finch Robots at White River Valley Middle School, to cross-age Sphero  projects at Newport City Elementary , to robotics integrated with mapping, science, and literacy at CP Smith Elementary . At Johnson Elementary, Hiawatha Elementary School, and Integrated Arts Academy  librarians are helping students explore how technology shapes their world and imagine tools for the future, while others are collaborating on Beebot and Ozobot robotics units or helping students develop AI literacy through hands-on analysis of images and media.

Librarians at Essex Westford, Mountain View SU, Newbury, Burlington and South Burlington Schools are integrating coding and STEAM activities in their libraries.

Vermont’s librarians are opening doors to computer science by sparking curiosity, nurturing problem-solvers, and ensuring all students see themselves as capable creators in a digital world. Today, we celebrate and thank them for all they do to make CS accessible, engaging, and empowering in our schools.
