Dear subscribers, Our group is interested in building an automated system for C-13 and C-14 analyses of carbonaceous particles on quartz filters, where the total carbon per sample = 1 to 10 micromoles. We forsee an elemental analyzer coupled to a CO2 trapping system, through which the gas is split for conventional d13 analysis and graphite production (for C-14 AMS). We believe the weakest link may be the trapping system. Will the experts out there comment on practical systems that may allow us to collect, in an automated fashion, the CO2 without fractionation or contamination? ==================================== Dr. R.
