Dear listmembers, I am searching a candidate at the MSc or PhD level (preferably PhD level) on the following subject: "Ore-genesis stable isotope - fluid inclusion study on the Cu-Co mineralization of the copperbelt of Zambia/Democratic Republik of Congo (former Zaïre)". The "copperbelt-project" is leaded by Prof Laurence Robb. The candidate will be supervised mostly by Dr. Pier de Groot. The research project includes: stable isotope analysis (O and S isotope facilities are available; in near future also a carbonate C and O isotope analytical device), fluid inclusion measurements (temperature stage, CL-probe & Raman-probe are available), geochemistry and field work. The candidate will be based at the University of the Witwatersrand at the Department of Geology. The Economic Geology Research Unit (EGRU) is also strongly involved in this project. The candidate must have a good Honours qualification (or comparable qualifications) and preferably has experience in (stable isotope) laboratory work. Funding has to be arranged after having particulars of a candidate.
