PhD: Organic Matter in Meteorites A full time PhD position (PPARC funded) is available at the Planetary Sciences Research Institute, Open University, Milton Keynes, UK. The project will investigate the origins of organic matter in meteorites from Mars and the Asteroid belt. The work will utilise a number of analytical methods including GC, GC-MS, isotope ratio monitoring-GC-MS, pyrolysis and HPLC. The data acquired will be useful when interpreting the results from organic analyses during forthcoming space missions and will advance our understanding of the origin of life. Candidates should have a good first degree in Chemistry, Physics or Earth Sciences. For more details contact: Ian Wright ([log in to unmask]) or Mark Sephton ([log in to unmask]).
