****Forwarded position announcement***** Lab Manager/Mass Spectroscopist University of Regina The Environmental Quality Analysis Laboratory (EQAL) is currently being set up at the University, and will be housed in the Department of Biology. The core equipment of the laboratory will be two F-MAT Delta-plus (XL) mass spectrometers, to be used for stable isotope ratio (C,H,N,O) measurements of organic and inorganic samples, and for on-line measurements of photosynthesis. Sample introduction methods for the mass spectrometers will include: elemental analyzer, pyrolysis, gas chromatograph, microgas interface, and a membrane inlet. Additional laboratory equipment will include a Dionex BX-500 ion chromatography system, Hewlett Packard gas and liquid chromatographs, HP photodiode array spectrophotometer, a Shimadzu total organic carbon (TOC) analysis system, and PC-based data analysis station. We are looking for a lab manager to run the day-to-day operations of EQAL. The manager will be responsible for scheduling of operations, analyses, equipment maintenance, methods development and accounting of costs and user fees. Opportunities for independent and collaborative research also exist. We are looking for an individual capable of independent work, with demonstrated expertise in mass spectrometry and use of other scientific equipment. Starting salary range is $40,000-42,500 CND, depending on experience.
