AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE BURLINGTON VT
205 AM EDT WED MAY 3 2000

UPPER JET SLOWLY LIFTING NORTH OF OUR FORECAST AREA DURING THE NEXT
24 HOURS...WHICH SHOULD MOVE ANY HIGH CLOUDS OUT OF THE REGION AS
WELL. LOW-LEVEL THICKNESS CHANGES AND REVERSAL OF SURFACE GRADIENT
SUGGEST A 6-8F WARMUP FROM YESTERDAY'S MAX TEMPERATURES. SLOWLY
INCREASING HUMIDITY AND INCREASING SOUTHERLY SURFACE WINDS TONIGHT
WILL PUSH MIN TEMPERATURES UP IN THE 35-45F RANGE. A LITTLE MORE
DEBRIS CLOUDINESS EXPECTED ON THURSDAY AS A NORTHERN BRANCH SYSTEM
NEARS...AS WELL AS SOME MOISTURE WHICH DRIFTS INTO NEW ENGLAND FROM
THE TEXAS CUTOFF. THICKNESS RISE FURTHER THURSDAY...WITH ANOTHER 8-
10F GAIN IN THE EXPECTED MAX TEMPERATURES. GOING FORECAST OF PARTLY
SUNNY AND BREEZY IS ON THE MONEY.

3 TO 5 DAY...AVN STILL SUGGESTING SOME SHOWERS THURSDAY NIGHT AS THE
STRONG NORTHERN BRANCH SYSTEM CROSSES THE REGION. STRUCTURE OF
SYSTEM IS SUCH THAT THERE MAY NOT BE MUCH OF A CHANGE IN TEMPERATURES
ON FRIDAY. CURRENT EXTENDED WILL ONLY BE MODIFIED TO ADD CHANCE OF
RAIN THURSDAY NIGHT...ALTHOUGH AVN HAS BEEN VERY OVERDONE ON ITS
PRECIP DEPICTION THE PAST TWO SYSTEMS.

ST. JEAN
