-- Is This The Answer To No Snow In John Doe's Backyard?
(TSIL-August 29, 2000) -- While snow on the mountains is essential, there are many in the industry who argue the problem is "not in my backyard" syndrome, i.e., when there is no snow in people's back yards in Connecticut, New York or even Denver, those people don't think about skiing or riding. One company has come up with an answer: make snow in your backyard with your own personal snowmaking device. The Backyard Blizzard, manufactured by SnowStation LLC, an affiliate of Snow Economics Inc., uses a garden hose to cover approximately 400 square feet with an inch of snow an hour.
The company suggests that besides personal use, retailers might use it to market snow sports equipment and outdoor attire. For more information check out
