Learn how to effectively join forces with diverse groups and partners to
advance the shared goal of "quality health information for all."  Discover
successful and very different partnership projects, including the
challenges, benefits, and pitfalls, and establishment and management
techniques.  Explore partnership issues and strategies for resolving
partnership problems. Learn about funding solutions from foundation,
federal, state and local funding sources.

Topics include:
Partnering projects with community-based clinics, public schools, public
libraries, nonprofit organizations and with other libraries Internationally.
Hospital Conversion Foundations
How partnerships create new opportunities

Small group activities include:
Identifying potential partners
Developing a shared vision and goals
Negotiating among partners
Project management

Learn to use new technologies and knowledge based information resources to
create web portals. Find  the easy access to needed resources and build
site tolls to increase value.  Plan and create an organized, navigable web
page and use Macromedia Fireworks to design it.  Recognize the difference
between HTML and XHTML.  Examine portals and how they allow libraries to
customize interfaces to Web resources.  Inquire into how intellectual
property issues come into play when designing a web site, and how to
develop web based, database-driven digital library services.

This symposium will include six, 3-hour training opportunities at various
skill levels to assist you with your skills so you can be involved in web
page and portal development.
