Non-tenured Faculty Position Vacancy

TITLE:  Outreach Coordinator
LOCATION: NN/LM Southeastern/Atlantic Region
SALARY: Commensurate with qualifications and experience

RESPONSIBILITIES:  Reports to the executive director.  The outreach
coordinator ensures an organized approach to the SE/A outreach services
by
coordinating and facilitating outreach and educational activities.
Coordinates and facilitates SE/A regional outreach projects and
subcontracts; promotes library development, provides consultation
services; assesses and responds to the information and educational needs
of health care and health information professionals and the public; and
markets and publicizes the services and products of the NLM and the
services of the NN/LM.

As one of three outreach coordinators, this position is responsible for
activities in the sub-region of North Carolina, Tennessee, South
Carolina
and Mississippi. In the sub-region, provides demonstrations, training
sessions, and exhibits featuring NLM databases and resources such as
PubMed and MEDLINEplus; consults on questions concerning NLM resources,
library services and grants; supports and monitors SE/A subcontracts and
projects; identifies sites and provides support and instruction for
library improvement projects; presents information about NN/LM programs
at
training sessions, association meetings, exhibits, and other events;
assists in the planning, promotion, and coordination of the technology
awareness programs; identifies regional needs and initiates programs and
services that are responsive to those needs; identifies and develops
programs that focus on special populations and subject disciplines
identified by NLM as high priorities; contributes articles to the
regional
electronic newsletter; with other outreach coordinators, develops needs
assessment tools and coordinates use as needed in the evaluation of
NN/LM
and NLM products and services; and oversees the development and updating
of training courses and training materials provided by SE/A.

QUALIFICATION REQUIRED: ALA accredited MLS; minimum 3 years health
sciences library experience; experience with searching NLM databases,
especially MEDLINE; familiarity with NLM products and services;
demonstrated experience with microcomputers; recent training experience;
willingness to travel; able to set-up computers and exhibits; good
communication and interpersonal skills.

QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED:  Knowledge or experience with: instructional
design or course development; evaluation; conducting research in
information science or instructional design; writing and editing; HTML
coding; project management; recent library technology.
