illustrated lecture on
"The Elizabeth Mine and the Orange County Vermont Copper Mining Belt"

Industrial archeologist/mining historian Matthew Kierstad will give an
exciting slide lecture on the remarkable history of hard rock copper mining
in Vermont, concentrating on the Elizabeth Mine at South Strafford. This is
a poorly known but fascinating chapter of VT history that has resulted in
archeological sites of national importance and many stories of pioneering
people, discoveries, technology, and events that shaped local, regional, and
national hsitory.
