Reference/Information Services Librarian (Part-Time)
Medical Sciences Library, New York Medical College, Valhalla, NY

Purpose:  To assume responsibilities for the reference/information services
activities evenings and weekends at the Medical Sciences Library of New York
Medical College during the academic year.

 Provides assistance to users with library resources and services including
print, non- print       media, electronic databases and the Internet.
 Provides individual and small group instruction for all library resources
and orientations.
 Performs mediated online searches as needed.
 Functions as a member of teams as appropriate.
 Performs other information services functions, including: completing
statistical reports,    surveys, maintaining files and collections,
developing guides, announcements and/or flyers.
 Provides oversight to the Access Services department as needed.
 Provides back-up support to the interlibrary loan unit as needed and
 Provides assistance for all other duties as assigned.

 Masters degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited program.
 Strong interpersonal skills and public service orientation.
 Ability to function as part of a team in a dynamic environment.
 Experience with computers and searching online/electronic databases and
resources, including                    the Internet.
 Professional library experience at an academic health sciences library.
 Experience in teaching and training.
 Flexibility in scheduling.

Schedule:  Temporary, part-time (up to 17 hours/week on average) during the
academic year.
