The Kennedy Institute is a leader in the development of library and
information services in bioethics. This position contributes to the
success of three projects, each funded by the National Institutes of
Health: 1) the National Reference Center for Bioethics Literature (a
specialized resource center – the largest of its kind in the world –
dedicated to research in the ethical, legal and public policy dimensions

of biomedical and behavioral research); 2) the Bioethics Information
Retrieval (database) Project; and 3) the National Information Resource
on Ethics and Human Genetics (an information resource providing
traditional and Web-based services on ethical issues in genetics).

Position Description

The person selected for this professional position will join an
enthusiastic, dedicated team of information professionals to: 1) provide

reference service to an international constituency; 2) participate in
collection development by monitoring and analyzing relevant content of
scholarly and technical legal, medical, humanities, and philosophical
publications; 3) write annotated bibliographies suitable for publication

in the Institute’s quarterly journal and on the library’s Web site, and
4) supervise collection maintenance.

MLS required; relevant experience, subject matter expertise, and/or
