The position has a nice variety of responsibilities including evidence-based searching, providing consumer-level resources, researching statistics in women's health, and developing Internet resources and other ways to use technology to provide appropriate information in a cost-effective manner.

Responsibilities:  Provide expert level searches and research for staff, committees, and members; help develop strategies and provide quality-filtered searches for College evidence-based publications; coordinate reference verification for ACOG publications; assist Director in the management of departmental Intranet and Internet sites and e-mail; manage interlibrary loan service; manage consumer, software, and audiovisual information and requests; staff reference desk and provide library training as needed; managed library and staff in the absence of other personnel; and provide other library services as assigned.

Qualifications:  Masters degree in library science with emphasis in biomedical librarianship. Minimum of two years' prior experience in public services in medical library setting. Excellent computer skills and experience in Windows environment, including Word and database design; expert level searcher in OVID, NLM, DIALOG, the Internet, and other systems.  Prior training and experience in evidence-based searching, including use of Cochrane databases, is highly desirable.  Prior training and experience in web page design, including basic HTML, is highly desirable.  Proven interest and ability to teach highly desirable.  Need to have the ability to interact effectively with all types of users, to work both independently and collaboratively, and to set appropriate priorities for a variety of competing tasks.  Should be well organized and have excellent communication skills.  Excellent knowledge of medical terminology, women's health, statistical sources and statistics, structure and organization of special libraries, and IAIMS concepts required.  Academy of Health Information Professionals Certification preferred. 

Competitive Salary; $35,000 minimum.
