Sunday, July 21, while enjoying a lakeside get-together with the family and
with one eye on the grandchildren and the other on any avian activity my
attention was drawn to a movement in the upper branches of a maple.
Binoculars in hand, revealed a pair of red-eyed vireo one carrying a length
of paper birch bark which it proceeded to weave into a half complete nest. I
thought it was of interest mainly because of the advanced date.
