Hello --

UVM's giraffe host and the Banner Student Information System (SIS) will be unavailable, beginning this evening, from

        Friday, Dec 6, 2002, starting at 5:00 p.m, through
        Sunday, Dec 8, 2002, at noon (or later)

while the giraffe machine is being replaced by a newer, faster model.  In addition, Giraffe's operating system and the Oracle software will both be upgraded to 64-bit versions.

This will affect all forms of access to the student information system and to any other application running on giraffe:

        []     Web registration for spring.

        []     Web access for the UVM Course Catalog.

                This includes the course lookup feature found by going
                to the UVM home page and choosing "Academics",
                then "Catalog", then "Search Catalog".

         []     Web access for course info, class lists, schedules,

                This includes many items on the Registrar's web pages,
                found by going to the UVM home page and choosing
                "Administration", then "Offices and Services", then
                "Registrar's Office"; or by going to:


         []    Web access to the FRS Query, Bullseye and Line Management
               System applications.

         []     Ssh, telnet, or dial-in to giraffe for Banner SIS or any other
