morning at West Rutland Marsh. 34 species were
tallied. Raptors made a good showing with 3
red-tailed hawks, 1 broad-winged hawk, 1 American
kestrel, and 1 sharp-shinned hawk.

Also of note were 3 great blue herons, 3 belted
kingfishers, 3 ravens, 1 wild turkey, 5
ruby-crowned kinglets (with some excellent looks
at the red crown), 2 eastern phoebes, 6 swamp
sparrows, 16 song sparrows, 1 yellow-rumped
warbler, 1 winter wren, and 4 northern flickers.
2 ruffed grouse were also heard drumming.
