In Vergennes a warrant is prepared by the administrative assistant (law says
the Selectmen shall prepare the warrant) that is presented to the Council
for approval before the checks are released.  We do have a motion that was
approved that allows us to do payroll every week without immediate approval
but it then goes to the Council at their next meeting.

As the treasurer, it is important to understand this.  If you release a
check and the Selectboard chooses not to approve it - it comes out of your
pocket!!  Hopefully it never gets that extreme but that is the law.
