Saturday, May 24, fifteen members of Rutland County Audubon spent 12 very
enjoyable hours in and out of the rain attempting to record 100 bird species in
Rutland County. While 94 bird species were found only a single butterfly was
seen, a 'Northern' Silvery Blue on a powerline cut off Arnold Hollow Road in
Brandon. The day was probably too cool for any flight and the above butterfly
remained on the grass stem even when the grass was plucked! The air was filled
with the sweet scent of flowering euphorbia.
