        Utah Consumer Health Information Initiative Ė Phase I
              Spencer S. Eccles Health Sciences Library

The Spencer S. Eccles Health Sciences Library is seeking an
innovative librarian with experience in public libraries and in
health sciences libraries to lead a project that will build new
health sciences information resources and services.  The goal of
the project is to create a supportive environment for Utahís
public libraries so that they can, in turn, provide high quality
consumer health information to all Utah citizens.  This project is
supported by an 18 month grant from the Institute of Museum
and Library Services through the Library Services and
Technology Act (LSTA).

Duties will include:  Conduct a statewide assessment of health
information resources and services in public libraries.  In
addition, the assessment will explore potential partnerships with
public health departments and other community health service
providers.  The assessment will lead to development of
education programs, resources and services that will enhance
the publicís access to health information.

Qualifications:  Masterís degree in Library and Information
Science from an ALA accredited library school.  A minimum of
five years of administrative experience, in positions of increasing
responsibility.  Public library experience preferred.  Experience
in health sciences libraries desirable.  Demonstrable oral and
written communications skills are required.  Experience with
project planning and management.

Salary:  The position is funded for .67 FTE with a full-time
equivalent salary of $52,500.  This is a research librarian
appointment for the period of the project.  Position includes
faculty benefits.  Faculty rank will be commensurate with
experience.
