38 species were seen or heard by 14 participants
on Saturday's monitoring walk at West Rutland.

It was interesting to note that almost as many
ruby-throated hummingbirds were seen as
red-winged blackbirds with a total of 8 hummers.
Family groups and begging by young were still
much in evidence with cedar waxwing, common
yellowthroat, gray catbird, rose-breasted
grosbeak, and song sparrow.

Also of interest were 2 red-tailed hawks, 1 great
blue heron, 1 common raven, 1 belted kingfisher,
2 marsh wrens, 2 swamp sparrows and 1 purple
finch.
