This afternoon (August 29) at Brilyea a good selection of shorebirds including 2 juvenile Baird's Sandpipers and one Short-billed Dowitcher. Also at least 4 Pectoral Sandpipers and numerous Lesser Yellowlegs, Least Sandpipers and Semipalmated Sandpipers. Also 4 Great Egrets as well as the usual crowd of Great Blue Herons and Black-crowned Night-Herons. All these birds were seen from the causeway connecting the two parking areas.Didn't have time (or energy) to walk out to see what the impoundment to the south of the causeway might have attracted in the way of herons, sandpipers and the like. In any event, Brilyea is definitely worth keeping an eye on!
