Three Ross's Geese, almost certainly a family unit of two adults and an
immature, were feeding practically at our feet today during a Vermont Bird
Tours outing to the Champlain Valley. I've seen pairs of adult Ross's Geese
at Dead Creek, and I've seen lone immatures, but never have I seen them
together. And never have we been naked-eye-close to three Ross's. A real treat.

Hunters forced the goose flock closer to Route 17 this morning. But the
usual haunts elsewhere were largely devoid of waterfowl. By afternoon, the
geese were farther from the viewing area. Still, an awesome day out there.
