Preserving America's Wilderness:
History and Outlook on the 40th Anniversary of the Wilderness Act

A Talk and Slideshow by Doug Scott--renowned wilderness advocate and historian, and Policy Director, Campaign for America's Wilderness

Thursday, Nov. 20, 6:30-8 p.m., University of Vermont
(more info below)

Wilderness areas are self-willed lands, where natural processes direct the ebb and flow of life. Wilderness preservation ensures these areas will be free of development, roads, logging, and motors--quiet sanctuaries for nature and people.

Our generation decides to save these wild places as an exercise in humility and an act of responsibility and faith, preserving them as a legacy for future generations.

Come learn about the rich, proud history of the American wilderness preservation movement. Learn how Vermont Senator George Aiken, the "Father of Eastern Wilderness," initiated the era of wilderness restoration. Local leaders will discuss the prospects for creating 100,000 acres of new wilderness in Vermont--and how you can help.
