Thanks Denis.  Jack London's "To Build a Fire," seems like such a perfect
Skivittler classic.  An out-of-state gomer, leaving the trail (and phinding
phresh untouched powder, no less), a womanish old-timer (nowadays referred to as
a Janet), etc., etc.

I thought of the story during my last week in Vermont, but the people I was with
knew it not.

Another great short story of Jack's is "A Piece of Steak."
