Vermont Stops Siena, 12-7, For Second Straight Win in Men's Lacrosse

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. - Vermont's Dan Zwirko (Syracuse, N.Y.) scored
three goals and assisted on three others as the Catamounts defeated
Siena, 12-7, for their second straight men's lacrosse win Tuesday at
Union College.

Vermont, 3-4, opens the America East season Saturday at Stony Brook.
Game time is 1:00pm

The Cats fell behind, 2-1, after one quarter, but scored five in the
second quarter to take a 6-3 lead at the half. Peter Hein (Greenwood
Village, Colo.) scored all three of his goals in the second quarter,
while Sean Layton (Wilmington, Mass.) and R.J. Harrison (Columbus,
Ohio) also scored in the pivotal quarter.

Layton finished with two goals and two assists, while Mark Prior
(Syracuse, N.Y.) had two goals and Mike Maher (Huntington Station,
N.Y.) finished with a goal and three assists. Freshman Branden Moore
(Beverly Hills, Mich.) also scored for the Catamounts. Three of
Vermont's goals were man-up goals.

In goal, Mike Gabel (Falmouth, Mass.) had a season-high 20 saves,
including 12 in the second half.
