In addition to the ospreys filling all of the nests at the Sandbar, I
encountered a pair of Northern shovelers, a pair of wigeon, a pair of wood ducks, and
a pair of mallards right at the entrance to the Sandbar State Park this
evening. The shovelers were shoveling away at a distance of perhaps 30 feet, quite
unperturbed by me and my vehicle. Also a great blue heron and a black-crowned
night heron were standing at the lakeside near the Grand Isle ferry dock.
