MOURNING CLOAKS since March 26.  Anglewings - all that I caught were GRAY COMMAS - since March 29.  A MILBERT'S TORTOISESHELL on April 17 and April 18.  COMPTON TORTOISESHELL on the 18th too.

 

On April 19, a moth I had raised from a caterpillar emerged from pupation.  The caterpillar was the same size and shape as a Woolly Bear, only its hairs were pure orange-brown.  The moth, which I imagine is a tiger moth, due to the hairiness of the caterpillar, has a very thick brown body and mahogany forewings with three black stripes on them. The middle stripe, which comes to a point then curves away, is the most strident - the others are faint.  The hindwings are red, with a black margin and a black spot near the middle.  The moth holds its wings tent-like over its body.  Does anybody know what it is?
